Woof
Wolves are awesome. I want to find a breeder, someone who has some wolf puppies. I know there are laws against having 100% wolves but I think I heard 98% is okay. I know I don't have a huge group of readers but does anyone know anything about owning a wolf as a pet?

I *love* your "Dog Blog". :) Thanks for sharing your pictures, especially the ones with the wolves (my favorite animals).

Thank you, anonymous.
I love wolves too, but I've decided (or possibly been convinced) that wolves need to be free and not subject to my whims as a dog is happy to be. I'd love to befriend a wolf, Dances with Wolves-style, but I don't want to leash one and break its spirit. Dogs are what they are, in my opinion: soft wolves. I also love bears but I've not seen any soft bears. Imagine if we'd spent ten thousand years domesticating bears instead of wolves....
Here are a few good sites I found:

I think one of the biggest things is that in order to properly and safely care for animals like these you need to know a lot about them, have the right kind of environment, and be willing to put the energy and time into it as well. You'd need to devote a huge part of yourself just to exercising and grooming the animal, not to mention the detail involved in the early raising of it from puppyhood. No offense, but I think even Vegas is more high-energy than what I believe would be a natural fit for you, and a need for so much MORE exercise, coupled with your relative lack of experience raising Canids, would make it exceedingly difficult for you to properly raise a wolf or wolfdog in the manner it deserves.
...Maybe someday, when you're 50 and living on a ranch in Montana and have become an avid hiker and have been raising dogs for most of your adult life, and have a partner who can help you....
