Vegas was a three month puppy when I got her from the San Diego Humane Society.
They said she was a Collie mix, born in June, 2003.
Some time has passed, she last weighed in at 82 pounds.
These tattoos represent a number of things to me: my love for dogs, my respect for wolves and tribal people, my friendship with my brother, and this time in our lives when we each are raising our first dog.

I adapted a design I found in the background of a scene in Wolf's Rain in which the wolves have been invited into the home of an American Indian who tells a story about wolves. Inside the old man's tent are hanging blankets with designs similar to this. I did my best to sketch the design from the paused tape, then I gave my sketches to my favorite tattoo artist.
